While the American media helped the White House remove from mainstream debate President Bush’s threat of World War III becoming a reality simply because Iran might gain the knowledge to make a nuclear weapon, in Israel TV shows have been pumping the reality that a nuclear Iran would indeed mean World War III.

News programs on primary channels talked up World War III and, according to this story, made use of “Gog and Magog maps of the likely alignment of nations in that potential conflict.”

Gog and Magog are the names of the two opposing warriors, unions or alliances of nations in the ancient Hebrew bible. and also appear in the New Testament book of Revelation, which prophecies a great world war, where Jerusalem is the centre of the Apocalypse and the Holy Land in general is where the war begins and is primarily fought.

From Revelation :

And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.

On two Israeli TV channels, maps laid out for viewers which nations would make up Gog and Magog in a third world war :

One side were Israel, the United States, Britain, France and Germany.

On the other were Iran, Russia, China, Syria and North Korea.

They should have added Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and most of the ’stans to the ‘other’ side, and included Australia with the Israel, United States alliance.

US President Bush said Wednesday during a press conference that Iran attaining nuclear weapons raises the risk of “World War III.”

“If Iran had a nuclear weapon, it’d be a dangerous threat to world peace,” Bush said. “So I told people that if you’re interested in avoiding World War III, it seems like you ought to be interested [in preventing a nuclear Iran]…I take the threat of Iran with a nuclear weapon very seriously.”

Russian President Vladimir Putin visited Iran Tuesday and slammed the US’s refusal to rule out the use of force against Iran’s nuclear project. “Not only should we reject the use of force, but also the mention of force as a possibility,” he said.

An ancient prophecy is not going to come true because this is what God, or a God, wants. A new world war pitting the United States and Israel against Russia, Iran and China will only happen because some very powerful people want it to become reality.

It sounds like the Israeli media is helping to prepare its people for something far more dramatic than around round of UN sanctions on Iran.
