An interesting example of the media creating a new reality :
In the attempt to keep up with counterparts, the media also bounced off each other in its coverage of the apparently imminent pandemic.
An example of this was when the New York Daily News sent a reporter walking through the city in a face mask to gauge reaction from members of the public. He was then stopped by a British TV crew that wanted to film him.
Take this news making to the next level of ridiculosity :
“Good evening, welcome to News At Night. Tonight, we report on how citizens of our city reacted when we sent three dozen reporters in face masks to stand in line outside of medical centers.
“But up next, panic hits the city as long lines form of people wearing face masks grow outside medical centers.”
