Any repeat-viewing fan of John Carpenter’s The Thing will feel a thrill up the spine when they look at this photo of a massive unexplained circle of heat under the ice of the world’s deepest lake :

One massive unexplained circle of heat that can be easily spotted from the International Space Station is weird enough. But there’s a second ring under the ice, at the other end of the lake, and it’s about the same size.
