Sometimes I am amazed by what I hear from the Obama Administration. I think it can best be described as lying to the American public for political gain. And anyone that wants to refute this has a steep hill to climb.
As I have stated before some 93% of all the promises made by the Obama Administration are currently null and void. Which is more than just chance. In fact I find that to be a willful act of deceiving voters. Others may provide their own excuses on this fact.
Add to that the complete failure of the Obama Stimulus. By the President’s own projections the $787 billion Stimulus has failed in every metric. We have lost more jobs, the economy has gotten worse, and there is no short term benefit even being projected into 2010. But President Obama, and Vice President Biden call that success.
President Obama stated that UNLESS the stimulus was passed unemployment would reach 9%, but with the stimulus it would not exceed 8.5%. Today it stands over 9.5% with the President projecting 10% by the end of the year. I call that complete failure – when doing nothing is better than what has been done.
Vice President Biden stated
Funny thing though, the only people talking about a depression was President Obama and VP Biden. They did so to give reason to approve the Stimulus Package that no one in Congress or the Administration read. Thus it can be said that the fear-mongering of a depression was the false thoughts of the Administration and certain Democrats. But to say that things have improved due to the Stimulus is again a lie.
ShopperTrak RCT, a Chicago-based research company that tracks customer traffic at more than 45,000 stores, said foot traffic figures for back-to-school are in line with its forecast of 10 percent drop compared with a year ago.”
VP Biden said
Again Biden has lied. As of today roughly 10% of all the Stimulus money has been used. Another 15% is planned to be used in 2010. The rest will wait for another day. So either President Obama and the Pelosi – Reid led Congress took money they didn’t need, or there is massive waste impending.
Add to that the fact that so far money has been spent on useless projects that have no purpose. $500,000 was spent in NY State for a town to remove its homeless problem, that doesn’t exist. Several skate parks were created, which returns nothing nor adds any real value. Some $600,000,000 has been spent on bridges
“1,123 sound bridges received such high inspection ratings that they normally would not qualify for federal bridge money, yet they will share in more than $1.2 billion in stimulus money, the AP analysis published in July found.”
As for the 2,400 military jobs
“The Defense Department frequently awards no-bid work to small contractors for repairs at military bases under the stimulus, costing taxpayers millions of dollars more than when businesses compete for the work, an Associated Press analysis of 570 such contracts found.”
So at every turn we see how the Obama Administration, and Congress lead by Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Majority Leader harry Reid, have lied and failed.
Which leads me to a simple question, Why would they do this?
The answer is simple I think. 2010 mid-term elections.
Democrats have a lock on the Congress right now. They are using it to pass every liberal agenda they have not been able to pass in 3 decades. But they need to maintain this powerbase to ensure they can pass everything they want. Which can’t happen unless they can provide voters with proof that something positive has been done.
So there needs to be a way to obscure the fact that nearly every Democrat in Congress did not read the Stimulus package, nor have they read the Health Care Reform Bill. They need to distract from the fact that the Stimulus package has led to more unemployment and business failures and mortgage foreclosures. They need to have something to make slogans and political re-election ads about. And they need to find a way to make Republicans who opposed each failure to look like bad guys.
It’s a tall order. It takes polispeak and media spin that I can only think of one elected official capable of doing. President Obama.
So as you watch the increasing number of political ads saying that Rep. Barney Frank is great, or that Senator Schumer is looking out for you, or whatever is the polispeak of your area, remember the facts.
This is just a quick highlight for you to remember as the political ads start flowing. As the polispeak of great jobs done on your behalf fill the airwaves, think of the above. Or better yet check out the facts yourself and compare them to the promises and claims of your local politician.
Politicians are counting on the fact that you won’t remember. They are sure you won’t read the facts, just as they didn’t read the proposals in Congress that affect you. Can you afford to prove them right?
